Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?

No. Analysis, forecasting, and compression run in your browser, and PDFs are not uploaded to All Tools.

What does the resolution slider mean?

It sets the target resolution relative to the estimated source DPI. For example, if a scanned page is about 200 DPI, 50% means roughly 100 DPI.

Why can the result be no smaller than the original?

Some PDFs are already optimized or contain mostly vector and text. If the rebuilt file is heavier, the tool keeps the original version.

JPEG uses quality, PNG reduces the color palette, and the forecast shows the expected file size before compression starts.
