Choose the right output format
JPG is usually best for photos, banners, and product images when transparency is not needed. PNG is better for screenshots, graphics, logos, and images with a transparent background. WebP often gives the best balance of quality and file size for modern websites, while AVIF can compress even further but may encode more slowly and depends on browser support.
Keeping the original format is the safest option when a catalog, CMS, or marketplace expects the same file type. If you convert a transparent PNG to JPG, transparent pixels have to be filled with a background, so use PNG or WebP when alpha transparency matters.
Quality, dimensions, and file size
The quality slider controls compression for JPG, WebP, and AVIF. Lower values make files smaller, but they can add visible artifacts such as soft details, noisy gradients, or blocky areas on flat backgrounds. Product photos and website images often work well at a medium quality setting, while portfolio images may need more headroom.
Maximum width and height settings resize oversized photos to the size they will actually be shown. That is useful for product pages, blog previews, avatars, documents, and email attachments. The no-upscale option prevents small images from being stretched, so the output does not become blurry.
Batch optimization for websites and marketplaces
